Ok, time to type up another report, this time from Eindhoven in The Netherlands.

The metagame was pretty much powered. Twan, the sponsor showed up with a few
friends and they played pretty bad decks, but all in all everyone had a lot of
fun, There were people from Germany too, so we were a multinational tourney...or
something like that. Anyway, on to the decklist and report.

I've been playing Control-Slaver almost exclusively for the last month and I was
feeling confident in the deck, which is always a good sign. Against most good
Type 1 decks, 1-2 turns of a Mindslaver is generally game and in my experience
during testing and today, it wasn't much different.

The decklist:

4 Goblin Welder
1 Pentavus
1 Platinum Angel

2 Mindslaver

4 Thirst for Knowledge
1 Wheel of Furtune
1 Timetwister
1 Memory Jar

3 Brainstorm
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Tinker
1 Burning Wish
1 Demonic Tutor
2 Cunning Wish

1 Time Walk
2 Blood Moon
4 Mana Drain
4 Force of Will

4 Volcanic Island
4 Flooded Strand
2 Underground Sea
1 Shivan Reef
5 Island
1 Great Furnace
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Sol Ring

1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Deep Analysis
1 Mind Twist
1 Fact or Fiction
3 Red Elemental Blast
2 Rack and Ruin
1 Stifle
1 Echoing Truth
2 Fire/Ice

A few card choices must stand out, like the draw-7's and the Burning Wish, but
when I tested the deck, they were fine, and I've almost never used Will, so I
felt it better to have a little bit of versatility with a few Wishes.

The report:

Round 1: Maarten Bukkems with Gay/r fish

Game 1: I hadn't tested this match-up at all, but I knew he was packing maindeck
Null Rods, so I didn't feel too good going into this. And behold, down came turn
2 Null Rod. Crap. Oh well, I proceeded to do weird shit and somehow got a
Pentavus into play, which beat down his little guys and went the distance.
Hooray for weenies

Game 2: This game wasn't going anywhere for a while. He finally started beating
down with manlands and in the turn before I died, I magically topdecked Tinker,
which got Platinum Angel, and so I finished the game at -3 life.

2-0, 1-0

Round 2: Arvid something with Vengeur Masqué.

Game 1: I didn't know what he was playing, since he'd had a bye round 1, so I
figured I should keep most hands. After resolving some nifty spells I Slavered
him 2 times and then he conceded after I started beating down with Angel.

Game 2: I kept a land with a mox, 1 land and a Brainstorm. Needless to say, I
didn't draw another land for the rest of the game. Yuck....

Game 3: I mulliganned into Ancestral Recall and after some overpowering card
advantage and plays, I Slavered him and proceeded to win. Highlights including
burning his Birds of Paradise and Rack and Ruin on a land and Illusionary Mask,
leaving him mana screwed.

2-1, 2-0

German #1 with TriniMud.

Game 1: Turn 1 Welder is some good vs this deck. He didn't resolve anything
substantial and after a Slaver he scooped.

Game 2: He went turn 1 T.Sphere, turn 2 Metalworker while I cast lands. Turn 3
he casts a heap of artifacts while I cast Welder, which stalled him long enough
for the win.

2-0, 3-0

Roy Thijsen with ...(withheld on request)

The games of this match were about as ridiculous as can be. We didn't do
anything except me resolving a Blood Moon 2 games and him beating me down with

2-1, 4-0

Menno Rieff with Madness/Dragon

Game 1 saw me owning him with Slaver. Dunno a lot, cause I was pretty worn out
by now.

Game 2 I lost to a slow start from my side.

Game 3 I won on a Slaver and Blood Moon, and then I Wheeled discarding his
Lotus, which he'd kept in hand to be able to cast multiple threats.

2-1, 5-0

Koen v/d Hulst with U/R control

I lost. Horribly. Beyond horrible even. Let's just not mention this anymore. 2
games I sat at the sidelines and lost, even after Slavering him.

0-2, 5-1

German guy #2 with TriniMud+Slavers

Game 1 was easily the most stupid I've ever played. It featured, at some point,
3 Welders on my side of the board and 2 on his. I Slavered him, he Slavered me
and then sort of threw the game away when he forgot to Slaver me. By now there
were 3 Smokestacks on the board, and he got a Jar, resolved it, after which I
Cunning Wished for Fire/Ice, burned his 2 Welders, then Burning Wished for Will
and totally mised him. I Slavered and he lost most of his board to hungry
Stacks. This game took an agonizing 40 minutes to complete.

Game 2: we'd started and a few turns into the game time was called and neither
of us could win.

1-0, 6-1

I came in 2nd, got some boosters and seeing it was 24k, got a nice rating boost
too, so after a few disastrous months, I should be back to 1800 I hope.

Welder, for being there vs Mud
Henk, the judge, for running as smooth a tourney as ever
The deck, for being generally nice

The deck, for not being nice 1 round.
