Report

After the Thanksgiving break, I was looking forward to playing tonight. It's
only been two weeks since picking up a Magic card, but it just felt so long. The
usual suspects were there, however most of them were getting ready for GenCon.
That only left a handful of powered players for tonights tourney. Expecting more
aggro play tonight with powered players in the late rounds influenced my choice.

Brief match summary:

Round 1: Rob (Counter Burn)

I've never seen Rob at C&J's before. He said he's excited about getting into
Type 1. Rob then states he's been playing Magic for about two months...

Game 1: Dragon combo turn two.

In: No change.
Out: No change.

Game 2: Dragon combo turn three.

1-0-0, 2-0-0

Round 2: Derek (Sligh)

Game 1: Dragon combo turn three.

In: 3 Verdant Force
Out: 3 Duress

Game 2: Dragon combo turn three.

2-0-0, 4-0-0

Round 3: Duck (wMUD)

Duck is complaining about playing the wMUD mirror for the second time tonight.
He played the mirror in the first round. Hmm... "Who was the other player?" I
ask while thinking 'because it is not me!'

Game 1: Duck wins die roll and elects to play first. Draw seven. Duck opens with
Mountain, Welder, Mox Emerald, Sol Ring, Chalice of the Void with one charge
counter. My opening turn, draw. I play Badlands, Mox Jet, pass turn. Duck now
thinks I'm playing DuckTape because of the Badlands. His second turn, draw. He
plays Workshop, Smokestack and passes turn. Draw. I play Bazaar. He looks
confused. Tap Bazaar, draw two, discard three (Dragon, Squee, land). He looks...
OMG WTF. Tap Badlands, tap Mox Jet, Animate Dead the Dragon... GG.

In: 3 Pernicious Deed, 3 Verdant Force
Out: 3 Duress, 1 Ambassador Laquatus, 1 Compulsion, 1 Dragon

Game 2: CotV with two charge counters + Smokestack vs. Animated Verdant Force.
The tokens keep me from grinding under. I find Necromancy before Duck finds
Blood Moon.

3-0-0, 6-0-0

Round 4: Donald (B/u Reanimator)

Game 1: Dragon combo turn eight. Yeah, Bazaar would not give me a Dragon or
tutor...

In: No change.
Out: No change.

Game 2: Que the music. When the lights, go out... in the city... We experience a
power outage. Tourney organizers bring out flashlights and candles, and
encourage to continue play. Hey, the ambiance was so enticing, 'CornBread became
overwhelmed and wanted to nibble on my earlobe. Good times were had by all...
Anywho, Donald concedes since the power still has not come back.

4-0-0, 8-0-0

Final Standings Top 4: (Tiebreakers determined 2-4)
1. KiL0
2. Donald
3. Duck
4. Sorry, I forgot. But look at #2 and #3, Donald Duck! heh.
